Seriously, the USA was miserable today. Those were two incredibly soft goals (the second was well-taken, so props there)... just complete defensive lapses.

Until the US starts sending its best players abroad as the norm and not a novelty, we won't improve. The MLS is a playground league and the "talent" is sub-par. I am sorry if I offend people who support the MLS, but come on. The best South African/Australian/etc. players don't play in their respective leagues, either.

Anyway, I'll be rooting for merry olde England until they complete the underachieving tragedy that is the England national team and crash out...

I am just praying for a great final with free-flowing football. Argentina is still my favorite to win it at this point. Brazil has not been impressive, Spain is overrated, and Germany is inconsistent. I am picking Uruguay to go the farthest of the dark horses.

EDIT: You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Tsar again.

^^^yeah, Uruguay shows promise, it played smooth and fluent. I was impressed how much Spain improved it's game after it 'woke' up (unlike France and Italy, who never woke from their slumber).

agreed, the "mickey mouse league" is not the way forward. we need more american players to be exposed to quality football (i.e. premiership, la liga, serie a, bundesliga etc) so they aren't shell shocked in a situation like this. can't say im pleased with this result at all really, i was hoping this year we could keep getting lucky. bah!

i think uruguay has impressed so far, i've always enjoyed watching forlan play. interested to see their progress, after watching brazil v portugal i think uruguay could hold their own.
