Kobe signs contract extension
"LOS ANGELES -- Kobe Bryant signed a three-year contract extension Friday worth nearly $90 million that will keep him with the Los Angeles Lakers through the 2013-14 season.
The deal will begin after next season. Bryant is making $23 million this season and is due to earn $24.8 million next season.
"It's very rare to have a player play his entire career in one city, so I'm very excited," he said after the Lakers beat Utah 106-92.
Bryant could earn $27.4 million in 2011-12, $30.2 million the following season and more than $32 million in his final year, when he would be 35. "
Insane contract extension. I wanna see how this compares to the mega contracts during the off seasons.

Crazy deal. As a Laker fan I'm happy he is signed, but thats a pretty penny man. And yes he deserves it for playing his ass off on a nightly basis.
But damn, I need to be honest about his play as of late. He's been stinking it up more often than not. He needs to get his body healthy... he has too many at this age to be playing through the injuries like he used to when he was 20. When he's healthy, he's a top superstar in this league, when he's got 3 busted up fingers on his shooting hand, a bum ankle and knee he becomes a regular player.

While I'm not a laker fan I am also not a laker hater. I am happy to see his legacy staying in LA. Whenever he plays it is fun to watch but I haven't seen him in person yet so this gives me more of a chance to fit that into the schedule.

As a diehard laker fan, I am definitely happy he will finish his career as a Laker. In today's NBA its rare to see a legend start and end his career with one team.
This season, Kobe started on a tear. He was ballin. But he's been banged up since before the all-star break... and the team just hasn't clicked. Lets hope the team will get back to championship form by getting through the West, but it'll be a tough task. Much tougher than playing through the LEastern conference.
Go Lakers!
