The Rumor mill starts again

Well said!
I don't get the hype around Ronaldo. He was fine last season; been disappointing so far. Fergie should let him go and try to get a proper, pukka player...not an egotistical metro-cry baby with the odd tap in, and a dreadful record with free kicks (over which he takes monopoly)

Ronaldo personality is indeed questionable but his ability as a player can`t be simply ignored and its indeed not questionable... as far for up and downs, all players have them even the best of the best
Should Ronaldo move to Barca, i dont think its right for Barca at this point of time, we already have a winning combination and it doesnt makes since to import stars, we make them.... meanwhile, madrid need him more.

Yep 117 goals in 297 appearances (including subs)... That's a goal every 2.5 games for his entire career w/Man Utd. In 21 EPL games this year (including subs), he's got 11 goals and 5 assists. That's a better than 50% strike rate.
There will always be haters. Does it bug me when he complains? Sure, but watch OBJECTIVELY how many times he gets fouled and never gets the call. That would frustrate me, too. Does it bother me when he dives? Sure it does, but then sometimes that's a good tactical move, even if it sucks in a sporting way. Many other players do that, too... Not many other players can do this:

Bonita: Sorry habibti, didn't know you were a CR7 fan.
Well, what I meant by a proper, pukka player is being talented on all accounts. Wonderboy just struts near the half line and has no intention of working hard, like Rooney, who runs back to his home half to perform his share of defensive duties.
In addition, when given the ball, Ronaldo proceeds to perform extremely unnnecessary stepovers and freestyle moves which result in a turn-over or a blocked shot 75% of the time. He's much better off just passing the ball like a normal player. I'd like to mention here that Berbatov is probably much lazier than Ronaldo but his deft touches and amazing ability to pass and assist has proved his worth.
Also, I'd like to mention an obvious fact - Ronaldo is an attention magnet; a fact he could use to his TEAM's advantage by using himself as the decoy and setting up other players...instead he chooses to take almost all chances and all free kicks (save for left-footers, when Giggs is on) I believe he should take a page out of Messi's book; or if that's too difficult, any decent midfielder like Gerrard or Lampard.
No hard feelings people. I'm not a hater..just a double-footed DMF who plays footie twice a week

First off I'd like to point out that I'm not a Man U or a Ronaldo fan. But having said that credit is due to Ronaldo he had a massive season last year and no matter what he'll do this season it will be a disappointment in comparison... while you may not like him or approve of his tactics you must concede that it's working. A player like Ronaldo should not be defending and granted his step overs are tiresome but it works. And as the old saying goes " if it ain't broke don't fix it."

I agree wholeheartedly that Ronaldo definitely had a massive season last year, and scoring 42 goals is nothing to sniff at. I wouldn't want to belittle that achievement, as it was a great factor in helping Man Utd win the Premier League, and to a lesser extent, the Champions' League.
However, I do not agree with your saying that it's working. By now, goalkeepers are aware of his kicking technique and, to add insult to injury, he has scored a fraction of the free kicks he scored last season. I'm not including penalties as most of them were received by other players and scoring a penalty for a player of Ronaldo's stature is a given.
His stepovers have lost their charm and their ability; the most he can muster now is a decent back heel or a no-look pass; otherwise he gets closed down by right-backs, or by 2 defenders converging on him. Through-balls and setting up plays are clearly of no interest to him whereas I feel that, considering his position and Scholes fresh from injury, he should work on them. More 'We' less 'Me' is a good way to go right now
I haven't seen any of Barca's matches this season but I've heard that their performance in general, and Messi and Eto'o in particular, is nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Every team in the world would love to have Ronaldo... That's the measure of his worth.
Hell, people lambasted Beckham for years and years - what happens? He gets ready to leave Real Madrid and they try to hang onto him. He joins Milan for a fitness trial, only for them to try to pry him from the Galaxy.
Ronaldo is much better than Becks. Keep in mind he is a young guy. Under Ferguson's tutelage, he'll mature. He's already stopped diving so much, doing so many tricks, etc. If he can channel his ego into his tactical game, he'll be unstoppable.
In my opinion, one advantage Messi has is that maturity. Messi plays with a control that is uncanny for such a young player...
