as a dallasite i would tend to disagree with popular opinion regarding avery. yes, his comments were in bad taste...but who cares? is this what the NHL has devolved to? indefinitely suspending players for an off color remark? most people down here seemed to think it was hilarious...and anyway wouldn't it be better for the league to stir up some interest? i can tell you i usually don't catch every stars game but i sure as hell would have liked to see avery hit the ice against the flames that night. his comments were made in the morning skate so everyone would have them fresh in mind. he had beef with iginla as well, i mean in what other scenario would anyone have a great deal on interest in some mediocre NHL teams playing a game in december? also, cuthbert is a bit of a hockey ho, isn't this the 3rd hockey player she has dated?

i mean hell chris chelios stated bettman could get assasinated in the year preceding the lockout if it went through...and he wasn't suspended. this all reeks of bs on part of the league and tom hicks and his teammates who have no room to talk as they have been sucking it up all year. i couldn't believe marty turco's remarks...that guy is the most inconsistent player on our team. hopefully, this will be resolved quickly and avery will be back agitating every player he encounters. if he's good enough for brett hull he's good enough for me.

This is a joke, right? Is the ACLU in cahoots with the NHL now? Is Cuthbert blowing a Stars front office big-wig?

Nah, this is a clear case of the team and league looking for ANYTHING to nail him with. Athletes in the NHL, NFL, NBA, etc. have all done waaay worse and nothing has happened to them.

Hell, Andrei Arlovski asked Tim Sylvia "how my pee pee taste" when asked about Sylvia dating his ex-girlfriend. Glad these guys aren't running the UFC- lol.
