Just What I Was Thinking.
One Of The Best Ways To Get What You Want Is To Buddy Up, And Get To Know The Sommalier At Your Local Shop. I Hosted A Silver Oak Party That Almost Didn't Happen Because One Of The Cases Got Crushed. But The Sommalier At My Local Shop Hooked Me Up.

to the OP - there are different shops for different styles (and budgets.) i would never buy french wine from most places, no matter how good of a deal i am apparently getting - you don't know the lineage of the bottles nor do you know how they've been stored, etc.
i have a guy that i buy wine from for my important bottles - and i trust that he knows it is real, not fake, and that he gives me stuff that i may not be able to easily access on the open market (of course, the inverse is true too - i know he has some wicked stuff that he won't sell to me - only goes to his very best customers!)
for "ordinary" wine selections, i like
- The Rare Wine Co. (great newsletter too)
- Woodland Hills Wine Co. - Your Direct Source for the World's Greatest Wines (a nice mix)
- K&L Wine Merchants - Thousands of rare and collectable wines including French wines, Italian wines, California wines, old and rare, red wines, white wines, fine wines, wine clubs... the most comprehensive list of wines online. K and L Wine Merchants (don't trust them w/ anything of age, but for cheaper new releases, pretty good selection)
