What to do in Napa?
#11
My wife works at a high-end boutique winery in Napa. She will totally hook you guys up for a tour/tasting. PM me if you are interested.
I would plan on going to Redd, but for a more casual experience, try sitting at the bar and having brunch. Their breakfast pizza is unbelievably good.
Most of the wineries along hwy 29 are "tasting factories" with large tasting rooms full of tourbus people. I would ask the hotel concierge (call that person ASAP) and have them set up a few tastings for you at Shafer, Sinskey or other similar high-end places. The winery my wife works at will be comp'ed, but the others will run about $25 each, but are great experiences as well as tasting great wine.
Be sure to stop at either Dean & Deluca or Oakville Grocery and get a fresh baguette and an assortment of amazing cheeses. Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam is a must. Ask the cheese person which others to try as well.
I am a huge fan of Taylor's Refresher (although I think they just renamed it Gott's Roadside) in St. Helena. Gourmet burgers and fries in a shaded outdoor picnic setting. There is usually a huge line on the weekends, but it does move really quick.
Have fun and PM me if you have any more questions.

Thanks Casey...looks like I am going to eat and drink a lot on this trip.

Last time I went it was the new chef (April). Too long in between meals for me to directly compare, but it was still excellent.

I'll be up there this weekend with 3 other couples (so a group of 8). Thanks for all the recommendations, I hope to give some of them a try but one wife in the group has a complete itenerary planned already (I know...fun...lol). At least I didn't have to plan anything. Should be a good time.
