A friend of mine, Bill Noon, always sends me the most amazing updates on classics for sale or ones he knows I would love to see, and this morning he delighted me once again with an uber rare important classic Porsche. He notes that this is the second 904 built (s/n 906-002) and one of the ultra-rare 904/6 "Werks" or Porsche Factory Team Cars fitted with a 2.0-liter, six-cylinder engine rather than the client version which used a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine.
This particular example is most likely the very finest surviving example left in the world and her current owner took great effort to fully document and gather together an incredible array of her original assembly records, race details, period photos and correspondences, the likes of which I have never seen duplicated before.
She will be sold with a complete extra engine, gearbox and full set of new rotors, calipers and brake pads all of which are crated and packaged carefully for world-wide shipping.
Ownership of any 904 is a treasured experience by those fortunate enough to do so. This Ex-Works Team represents a rare chance to acquire the very best of the best.
The car is Lot No. 242 and she will be auctioned off on Saturday night sometime after 9PM. This 904 is expecting to fetch some where in the neighborhood of $1,800,000-$2,200,000.
If anyone wants to get on Bill's email (and I suggest you do) email him at bnoon@symbolicmotors.com.
