Autoblog: Porsche considering new model between 911 and 918 Spyder?

I think the model Porsche is talking about and which will fill the huge gap between the 911 and the 918 Spyder is a new 928, basically a coupe version of the Panamera. We've heard rumours about it for a long time and it only seems logical for Porsche. They just make it more of a GT car with front V8 engine and compete with the DB9, Maserati GT and BMW 6.

I don't think Porsche would place a V8 front engined sports coupe above the 911. I think this car we have no details on will be a lightweight, short wheel base flat-6 model coming in coupe/cab forms only. I also think it will rival the Ferrari 458. And before you say, ah great more models to keep track of, just remember, Porsche won't need as many 911 models to rival all of the cars they're targeting. So that means less 911 models at a lower price. It also means that there is hope beyond the dilution of Porsche.

^^ You're not thinking about Porsche's new model from an economic perspective. And remember Porsche is German, so they are definitely thinking about this from an economic strategic perspective.
They have released the Panamera for which they developed an all new platform. I would only make sense to keep making some more cars on the same platform in order to be cost efficient while at the same time trying to trying to reinvent themselves. A GT Coupe would be ideal, not too much work yet a completely new car and a great rival, as I said before, for cars like Aston Martin DB9, Maserati GT, BMW 6 and Bently CGT.
A mid engine coupe/cab car you are talking about would either require the platform of the 918 or an entirely new platform. Sharing the 918's platform would be like fvcking the new owners who pay 800k$ for it in the a$s with a donkey boner. Developing a completely new platform again (right after having done that for the Panamera) would be insane. Also a mid engine sportcar wouldn't differ enough from the 911. Especially not regarding its purpose being a sporty car with track potential.
A bigger front engine GT coupe wouldn't rival with Porsches own existing models.
