Hey Jaber, have you seen the book " To Finish First "? It was written by Phil Kerr whom was best friends with Bruce McLaren, and his right hand man. They grew up together in Auckland.

The book has some amazing insights into the world of motor sport from that era, from F1 to Can-Am to Indy, told from the McLaren team standpoint. Absolutely fascinating and a must read, you would love it.

I am intrigued by that era, especially when my old man retells stories of him handing tools to Jack Brabham whilst he was tooling away on his car ( cooper? ) at a very obscure garage in an obscure town in the middle of the North Island during the Tasman series.

 

HAHAHA I was born that year so yea that was a good year/era all around.
