The car was designed the previous year by Honda with megabucks. Brawn just lucked into having an incredibly good car handed to them.

Thanks for posting this Dana, I wrote an article on it which currently had over 54,000 views on it! So that equals more than $110 at the moment.

Check it out! Video: What 9 Thousandths of a Second Looks Like At F1 Speed

They didn't hand him a trick diffuser.

That's why they won.

That may be the case. But people assume that Brawn did everything on a shoestring and last minute, which obviously wasn't the case.

F1 cars are amazing don't get me wrong but........

All these guys like Dana who watch it all of the time understand the drivers and their strengths. In turn they can choose most likely who will win and where, qualifying no different. These guys are good. Almost too good.

Throw a bunch of touring cars on a track and watch the carnage happen. From vW's to 911's it's all exciting.

That's my thought on motorsport on pavement. I'd much rather watch rally over all of it honestly
Must spread rep.

To add to what you're saying:
As everything becomes more standardized the racing becomes less interesting. It is hard to argue against standardization of the cars, but when it comes down to it almost every rule the FIA implements makes racing just a bit less interesting to watch. WRC has suffered a similar fate IMO.
