I was shocked to hear last night from a friend that the Nurburgring was having trouble at the moment. Check this thread out:

Sabine Schmidt is one of the many who is spearheading an effort to save the Nurbringring. It all started when the track was rented to a pair of businessmen who thought they'd try making it into a tourist mecca. Well, that apparently backfired and now they're in the hole financially.

 

Really what this says is the owners are really bad with money and we should bail them out for there stupid decisions? Let them sell the ring it's not going away or closing

Actually not the owners. Just two guys that promised too much. It's still owned by the city I believe. Typical developers step up, do their thing and if they fail they give it back to the banks and make it someone else's problem. This is the travesty that has screwed the worlds economy. In their defense they "say" they went off of the "publicized" numbers and that the Ring actually made up these numbers. When someone invests 400 million Euros you'd think they would get a little deeper into the books than some publicly made "Visitors per year" numbers. Who knows maybe that's just me.

Sad but I thing the Ring will stay and the Hotel/Theme park will decay away at the banks expense. I hope it's not tied completely to the property but I don't see how two guys renting/leasing the Ring could use the track and it's property as collateral.

 

Eh. Pretty sure that Obama will bail out ze Germans anyway.
