Robert Kubica reported injured in rally accident

In the video of the crashed car,.. that roll cage looks like a bad joke.. made with very small diameter tubing, (56-59sec into the video)
That thing would never pass SCCA minimum requirements here.
Kubica is definitely a great driver. I wish to him a fast and very complete recovery.

Lotus Renault GP number one driver Robert Kubica is no longer at risk of having his hand amputated, Daniel Morelli, his manager, confirmed in a press conference this afternoon. However it remains unclear whether or not the Pole will recover complete functionality with it.
Kubica suffered serious injuries this morning following a high-speed crash on the Ronde di Andora Rally in Italy. He was airlifted to Pietra Ligure Hospital and taken into the operating theatre around 14.00 hours CET. Igor Rossello is the doctor in charge.
It is thought he should come out of surgery around 19.00 hours British time / 20.00 hours CET.

he's a talent, i hope he recovers fully. would be quite sad to see him penalized for doing what a proper racing driver should, namely competing in differing disciplines.
events of this nature will likely push teams to contractually bind most F1 drivers from participating in any other form of motorsport, they are simply too valuable a commodity.
