2011 Formula 1 Off-Season Discussion Thread

So I was thinking the other day. Since the Pit-Stop has been relatively quiet, I think we should have one large thread about Formula 1, and one for each other type of motorsport. I know Dana made one, but that is tied in with the Fantasy League, and it pretty much came to a Fantasy league only thread.

Since it's the offseason, much speculation can be made about the 2011 year. There are always new news stories, even if it's repeating news. I think a new thread named "The Official Teamspeed 2011 Formula 1 Offseason Discussion Thread" should be made and be a "sticky", along with the other forms of motorsport.

Motorsport is my passion and I would love to see more activity here (would love as much as the off topic threads). What does everyone else think?

I'm pretty new here but I like the idea - I haven't found many US sites where knowledgeable enthusiasts discuss F1.

I'll kick off speculation for 2011 - who thinks Schumacher and Mercedes are going to be more competitive this year? Can he reclaim a championship or is it time to retire?

Personally, I think he needs to hang it up before he burns away his legacy but it would be great if Mecedes GP can pull a trick out of their hat and get some strong finishes this season.

I think Schumi will be more competitive next year because he'll have a car more catered to his style. Do I think he will outperform Rosberg? That's hard to say. I don't think he'll be able to achieve another WDC, but who knows.

Thanks for your input Sean. Sorry I haven't been more active in the Pit-Stop forum lately but that's a great idea! I'll get off my ass and start posting more news articles and I'm going to rename this thread as the new Formula 1 Offseason Discussion Thread.

Good thread Al. For next year I expect Schumi been a better contender now with a year under the belt with the Petronas GP team. Also my other 2 guesses is that Alonso will be tougher and redbull will not be as dominant as last year.

Mclaren should be up there. I'm expecting either Hamilton or Alonso to win it all this coming year.

Toyota and Pirelli tires started testing in Bahrain today, it was so nice to hear that single F1 car noise on the track again.

I hope Schumacher is better than Rosberg - if anything just to save some face for him. Rosberg is good but I'm not sure he's WDC good.

I'd like to see Alonso take it or Webber in 2011 but I do wonder if Red Bull used up a lot of talent to stay competitive this year and will suffer for it early in the 2011 season.

Any word on how the Pirelli's will suit some of the drivers?

Tbh, I didn't think Vettel was WDC material this year. He definitely proved me wrong.
