Ferrari fined $100,000 for team orders
#21
At the time, there was the fear that Massa was holding up Alonso, and that Vettel might catch and pass Alonso. All it would have taken was one safety car, and that could have played out. Strategically, Ferrari wanted to mazimize the chance of a 1-2, and give more points to the driver with the better chance of winning the WDC as well. I can't fault them their logic, it's just that this sort of thing just takes the sheen off the victory.
The single most compelling aspect of motor racing (assuming you're not the one actually driving) is the competition between teams and drivers. We prattle on about the technical aspect of the sport, but it's the human drama that keeps us interested. To have it thrown in our face that the difference between the competition we think we have and the one we actually have is the same as the difference between Olympic wrestling and the WWF really sucks the marrow out of the whole thing.

Thats the whole issue, Ferrari allowed doubt and heresay to enter the argument of a dominant victory. I'm tifosi and a massa fan so im not going to prolong the "what if" argument. As a fan of the sport ferrari ROBBED us, i'm dissappointed in the team for going that route and im disappointed in Massa for not having the balls Hami did as a ROOKIE to question team orders when he was leading a race ahead of Alonso. You can try and redirect attention to red bull but at that was a strategy call BEFORE the race and not during...color me disappointed, focus back to motogp and wsbk...
