Jerez Day 3: Ricciardo tops final test day of the year
Formula One news: Jerez Day 3: Ricciardo tops final test day of the year - GPUpdate.net Formula One
Red Bull Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo was the fastest driver on Thursday - the final official day of testing for Formula 1 teams in 2009. The Australian completed his fastest lap at Jerez in 1.17.418 and was over a second faster than anyone else in the South of Spain. Paul di Resta ended second as the Scotsman was testing behind the wheel of the Force India car.
Thursday was the third and final day of testing for this week's youngsters test. The first test ever organised only for drivers with little to no experience in Formula 1. The day was interrupted several times by red flags. Paul di Resta caused two red flags by spinning the Force India VJM02. Daniel Ricciardo caused a red flag when his car came to a stop due to an engine problem towards the end of the day.
Briton Mike Conway continued testing at Brawn GP and ended fourth ahead of Williams' 2009 driver Nico Hulkenberg. At McLaren Oliver Turvey continued his progress with the McLaren. The Briton ended third.
With the third and final day of testing of the year the action in F1 has come to an end. The team will be back in action in February. In the first week of February the teams will travel to Valencia for a three-day test. Until then all the action will take place online as we try to follow the latest rumours and signings of new drivers closely here at GPUpdate.net.
