Raikkonen demands 'too high' for Toyota, says Howett

He really needs to sign with Mclaren. He knows it, Mclaren knows it, everyone knows it.

Kimi Raikkonen is pricing himself out of an F1 seat with Toyota in 2010, the big-budget Japanese manufacturer's motorsport president John Howett has warned.

Since it was finally officially confirmed that the 2007 world champion is to part company with Ferrari come season's end, Raikkonen has been linked with a number of potential suitors – most prominently his former team McLaren-Mercedes, but also Renault, Red Bull Racing and Toyota.

However, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has insisted that the Finn is not on the energy drinks-backed concern's agenda for next year – insisting that the team is more than happy with current contracted pairing Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber – and it is said that McLaren, with whom Raikkonen triumphed in eight grands prix during his previous stint from 2002 to 2006, is baulking at his financial demands. Toyota too, Howett reveals.

“He gave us back a figure that is too high,” the Englishman told Motorsport Aktuell. “He says he has options, so we are going to wait.”

Having cast considerable doubt upon the prospect of either Jarno Trulli or Timo Glock remaining on-board at the Cologne-based outfit in 2010, Howett has mused that a Raikkonen-Kamui Kobayashi pairing could be on the cards, following the Japanese ace's impressive F1 debut in Glock's place in the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos last weekend

Call me crazy, but I think he's worth it. He doesn't belong at Toyota anyway.

with the ludicrous amounts they have already spent for no results you would think they would be willing to drop the coin on a legitimate superstar driver. toyota looks to be following honda's path.

Kimi is too cool for Toyota. He will fit in better at McLaren.
