Brawn unmoved on Button salary demands

The Brawn team is unlikely to simply agree to Jenson Button's demands for a higher retainer next year, according to reports.

The two parties have been deadlocked in their negotiations about a new contract for next season, with Button wanting to revert to his retainer of the Honda days having agreed to slash his pay amid the management buyout last winter.

"We can offer a higher proportion of driver freedom and that will probably be the route we will go," Brawn told the Guardian. "Jenson has some freedom for his own endorsements but has a commitment to meet our obligations.

Meanwhile, Auto Motor und Sport claims that the team could be re-branded as ‘Mercedes-Benz’ next year, should the German car-maker buy into the team as expected.

"We are looking at all opportunities for the future but it is too early to announce anything yet," Brawn told PA Sport.

When will this guy realize that Brawn's car and strategy won him the championship...NOT his driving alone and just sign the damn dotted line.

I think Button should go to McLaren for a year, Kimi should sit out and make an extra $2 million...

Or maybe Button should just quit now while he's on top instead of embarrassing himself on some other team.

Button is like the majority of British drivers since Nigel: lots of hype, but very little action unless they're in a dominant car.

Any idea what Button pulled in this year from Brawn for his salary & championship?

He got a couple mill. for salary, no idea what bonus ( if any ) he got.

Hes going to embarrass himself next year me thinks. The Brawn will be competitive, but he will be outclassed by better drivers in equal or better machines.
