Carl Edwards launched into track fence in the closing laps of Talladega

Word is they had to treat numerous fans due to flying debris. This is unreal.

Holy Cow! A few years ago those fences were not that high or strong. A lot of people would have died had they not been so strong. Amazing!!

Could have been very bad.

The impromptu commentary reminds me of the demographic joke about Bubbas [my (mostly) southern brethren who constitute the NASCAR fan base] and Nigels (europhile F1 fans).

That could of been a lot worse hopefully those people will be OK.

Thankfully, those fences at NASCAR venues were upgraded many years ago and are not the simple chain link fences of yesteryear. If you ever get to take a close look at one, they are a mesh of wire cable that forms an interwoven net of sorts. Definitely paid for itself today!
