F1 News - Red Bull Considering New Engine Options

In yet another blow to Renault, Red Bull is now considering moving to a Mercedes power plant fo 2010.

Has one race win gone to their head??

If MB dumped Brawn in favor of Red Bull... where would Brawn go for an engine? You KNOW Renault wouldn't do it just in spite lol

The Renault engine has been very reliable for them thus far, so I don't understand the motivation behind wanting to switch. I doubt Brawn GP would give up their deal with Mercedes since they obviously have a good thing going as well. Force India would surely struggle more without a Mercedes engine too. According the the FIA, an engine team can only supply two additional teams with engines, iirc with an exception being made for Brawn so the likelihood of Red Bull getting a Mercedes engine next year is very slim, imo.

Surely The Mercedes and Ferrari engines are faster but Ferrari's engine has cooling and reliability issues which should be ironed out by nest season. The issue with the Benz is that it's tough on the gearbox while the only issue with Renault is top end speed however back in 2006 when the Michelin tire was in use Renault was the quickest of the line and had superior acceleration now not so much. I wonder why they haven't resolved the issue
