Drive Your Car at Talladega Super Speedway (crosspost)
As some of you may know, the Southern United States was just hit with the deadliest storms since 1974. Nearly 250 deaths have been reported with more to come.
Towns in six states were destroyed. I was lucky here at school in Mississippi to have one tornado touch down about 10 miles north of me and another touched down about 10 miles south of me.
The state of Alabama was hit the hardest. As of this morning there have been 180 deaths in that state reported.
The college town of Tuscaloosa, where the University of Alabama is, was hit very hard. While there was minimal damage to the University, many homes were destroyed. Several of my friends had their home destroyed.
In response to this disaster, Talladega Super Speed has announced their support by donating $100,000 for relief support. Also, for a minimum donation of $50 you can drive your car on the largest closed track in NASCAR.
The track will be open to the public May 6-8 to any street legal vehicle. You can have as many passengers as there are seatbelts in your car.
I thought some people might like to drive on the track and also support devastated communities at the same time.
