Did you guys notice 1) how much movement there was during qualifying and 2) how close the pack raced yesterday??!!!! The rules have made the race seem much more competitive. There are more constructors fighting it out at the top. I don't think Kubica is running KERS or the better diffuser, and he should have taken 3rd. Very competitive season under way. It seems like it's going to be a battle from week to week.
Great observation! I noticed the same. As much as I hate to admit it, especially given how opposed I was to the rule changes in the first place, the new rules really did make the racing very close, right up to the finish. Melbourne is always an exciting race though because it forces all the teams to put their money where their mouths are and really compete wheel to wheel for the first time. Last year was a really exciting race for instance, because it was the first race of the season after the traction control ban. Sure, only a half of the field actually crossed the finish line, but it made for an interesting race full of crashes which is great for bunching up the field due to caution periods. The race yesterday was very much the same but I was actually amazed at how few crashes there were given the new front wings. Also, Barrichello's car held up tremendously well given the fact that he was involved in two front end collisions throughout the race. I can't wait for Malaysia!!!

I didn't even know that! I guess there's no room for mistakes...

So if we drop drivers from the last race to make a new set for the next race, do we still lose money?

Well looks like my decission to drop Lewis in favor of a 5 person team paid off, but he did end up finishing 3rd. The statistician in me wants to try and figure out where I would be if I kept my original lineup... but I'm a bit lazy today lol.

5-man teams are the way to go until Ferrari and McLaren figure some stuff out. The expensive drivers - those with double-digit price tage - just are not worth it right now. This will change by Spain.

Yeah I'm with you on that, I think by the time Spain rolls around McLaren and Ferrari will have their stuff togeather.
