Gascoyne begins legal action
Former Force India technical boss Mike Gascoyne is taking legal action against the team over his dismissal at the end of last year.
Autosport.com reports that Gascoyne is seeking over £2 million from Force India after his three-year deal was terminated 12 months early.
He has begun proceedings at the High Court in London.
Gascoyne built his reputation at Tyrrell and Jordan in the 1990s, before setting Renault on the path to championship success in the early 2000s.
He then accepted a big-money offer to head Toyota's technical department, and was responsible for the Japanese squad's best season so far in 2005.
But his no-compromise approach did not find favour with senior management, and he split with Toyota early in the 2006 season.
Gascoyne was only on the sidelines for a few months before returning to his underdog roots by joining the Spyker team, and he stayed on when it became Force India a year later.
He warned that it would take time to get the squad back on track, but when owner Vijay Mallya decided that a technical partnership with McLaren-Mercedes was the best option for Force India's future, he released both Gascoyne and team manager Colin Kolles from their contracts.
