Bernie predicts Vettel- Ferrari union

Bernie Ecclestone says he is 'surprised' that a union of the Ferrari team and young German racer Sebastian Vettel has not already taken place.

At Ferrari's 'Wrooom' media event last week, the F1 CEO pinned his colours to Felipe Massa for the 2009 championship but named Vettel, 21, as his man of the future.

Vettel stunned the F1 world with his and team Toro Rosso's debut victory at Monza last season. In 2009, he moves up to the energy drink Red Bull's primary team.

But Ecclestone, who last week said he would be happy to see Fernando Alonso at Ferrari, told the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag: "I see Sebastian with Ferrari.
"

"I am actually a little surprised that he is not already under contract, but I am absolutely sure that it will be so," the Briton said.

^^^ Hahaha I was just thinking the same thing! All Bernie talks about is new drivers going to Ferrari. What about the two incredible drivers they currently have?! Surely Ferrari isn't in any hurry to drop Massa or Raikkonen anytime soon.

I do see Vettel ending up on a top-level team very soon though, but I think he'd be better suited for McLaren at the moment. He'd make a fantastic replacement for Kovalainen.

Vettel will certainly end up in a winning car it's just a matter of time and I don't think the choice is either scarlet or grey. Perhaps BMW might snap him up and he'll be able to win the title in a BMW much like Alonso did in a Renault

Oooh, good call! I could definitely see him in a BMW in the near future.

LOL Bernie is such a clown! Does he know other great teams exist???

I think Vettel would be sick with a team like Renault. He's bound to move up soon
