The Official Brazil Practice Thread - *Spoilers*

Arighty. I'm going to start this up. It'll be interesting to see who tops the time sheets.

Forza Ferrari. Hopefully we can have a Brazil Repeat. Can you imagine a Brazilian in Brazil winning?

Not in '08 I can't. I do wish all in the hunt the best of luck this weekend.

I have an idea for this race, send the stewards to the beach with some honeys for the entire weekend!

Mclaren insecurity kicking in here's what I honestly think Massa and Raikonen 1,2 but it's almost impossible for Lewis not to finish the race anywhere between 3rd and 5th place unless something extraordinary happens like he doesn't get through Q1 from some reason or a mechanical faliure like what happened in Interlagos,Brazil( But I can't see that Happening the car has been much more reliable in 2008) 2007 or he crashes during the race

I'm guessing a similar finish. I haven't watched any of the practice yet, but I'm thinking Massa will win, followed by Hamilton or Raikkonen to round out the podium spots. I have no doubt that Massa will win this race simply because Heikki won't be able to help Hamilton the way Kimi will be able to help Massa. I'm confident that Lewis will win the WDC unless someone hits him. That would be a tremendous shame.

Oh GAWD no . . . It's Friday practice and the press has already declared Alonso the winner? I hope Alonso does win. That would mean Massa has no chance at the WDC.

What's up with Kov? Typical.

From F1Live.com.

Alonso sets the Friday pace
Brazilian GP - Second practice
31/10/08 18:50

Alonso showed the pace of the R28 right at
the end of the Friday running

With just over two minutes remaining of the 90-minute second free practice session this afternoon at Interlagos, things were looking pretty bleak for the Renault team with Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet 18th and 20th on the timesheets. The final run however vaulted the former champion to the head of the timesheets with a best lap of 1:12.296s, a fraction ahead of Felipe Massa’s 1:12.305s set in the morning session.

While Alonso holds the overnight bragging rights, Massa will be very satisfied with his day at Interlagos. After setting the morning pace the Brazilian topped the timesheets for much of the afternoon and ended the day just 0.057s adrift of Alonso. Critically for the Brazilian, it was not a good session for championship leader Lewis Hamilton who struggled mightily with the handling of his McLaren Mercedes.

While it was a very satisfying afternoon for Alonso and Massa, the same can be said for Jarno Trulli who really did run well again for Toyota. The Italian veteran traded best laps with Massa early in the session ahead of a brief rain shower and ended the afternoon with the third fastest time. Team-mate Timo Glock did not have such a good run and was 14th, sixth-tenths down on Trulli.

Kimi Raikkonen was a fraction slower than his morning best and ended the day fourth ahead of Mark Webber who vaulted up the order right at the end of the session in the leading Red Bull Renault.

His 2009 team-mate Sebastian Vettel was next up in the leading Toro Rosso ahead of Nelson Piquet who moved from 20th to seventh as the chequered flag flew. Nico Rosberg was a firm top-ten runner late in the session and is eighth overnight in his Williams Toyota after adding wing to the FW30.

Lewis Hamilton never looked comfortable with his McLaren Mercedes this afternoon. We know the team have a number of updates to the MP4-23 package, but with no testing permitted following the Chinese Grand Prix, it was a case of running the revisions for the first time in free practice. Like his rivals, Hamilton started the session on the harder prime tyre before moving on to evaluate the softer option tyre. On both compounds Hamilton repeatedly locked brakes and lost time. He ends the day ninth while team-mate Heikki Kovalainen was a low-key 15th.

Kazuki Nakajima rounded out the top ten in the second Williams while the white Red Bull Renault of David Coulthard was just a hundredth of a second adrift in 11th. BMW Sauber did not show a great deal of pace this afternoon with Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld down in 12th and 13th positions respectively ahead of Glock and Kovalainen.

Massa is down in the points by 7. He can still win by placing second and having Lewis finish out of the points.

Remember that system goes

1st- 10
2nd- 8
3rd- 6
4th- 5
5th- 4
6th- 3
7th- 2
8th- 1

Wow, very interesting. Does anyone know what sort of revisions they made to the McLarens? I wonder if they can set anything back to help Hamilton feel more comfortable behind the wheel. This might be a more intense race than I had initially thought.

If Massa wins, all Lewis must do is place 5th or better.

Oh crap. I don't know. Lewis will win and make it a mute point.
