This is what I would go for...
The S95 is a great all rounder but low light quality is not that great
This is an amazing piece but dono when the G12 is coming out
Here is the mother of them all (in my view) Fuji x100
If you want something to point and shoot with / take a beating / works underwater / easy on the pocket

LOL, I am a terrible advice-ist - just went out and got a DSLR. 
I wanted the smallest and most rugged one and got suggested an Olympus something-or-other and some supposedly good lens thingy. I must've been SUCH an easy catch. He went "Oh, and you need this, and this and this"

Hmm. I assumed, because it is heavy, expensive and comes with a massive lens, that I would somehow become an amazing photographer right away. Eh. I guess I need to learn some shit first. Does this look blurry? It does, doesn't it?
