Look what your friends have.

I went Canon because all my friends have Canon and we can swap lenses/flashes/accessories.

Cheap body, good lens.

i shoot with a canon.

When the 5d Mk2 came out, canon was on top of the game. Now, nikon and canon (within each price range) are very comparable, and thier high end equipment both takes absolutely wonderful pictures.

I chose canon because i could use old m42 mount lenses with it (which i have tons of).

The question we need to know is for what purpose is your buying a camera? Do you just want nice photos? Do you want to get into photography as a hobby?

Thnx guys for the advice,

the website to compare helped me alot with my choice,
i think i will go for the nikon D3100.

@propr'n: i wish to buy a camera to take nice pictures most for cars, most of the time probably around the track, and also to begin as a hobby photograph

Canon and Nikon have a fair battle when it comes to pictures, but when it comes to video, Nikons are really not good at all. You get more for your money with Canon. The Canon Rebel is good, or even better, the Canon 7D if you can afford it.
