Just need the body, I've got lenses from my D70. A reputable local shop quoted me $929 for the body only. If you have links on reliable online sources who can do $700, please share.

Whoops, I saw a few for that price over on FredMiranda.com but they were used. I could've sworn a few members were getting kits for like $1100 or so. Sorry to give you the wrong info.

Keep in mind the D300 has the same internals as the D3. The diff is the D3 has a slightly faster processor and holds two cards.

If you meant the D700 and D3 have the same internals, you are correct. There are a few other differences between the D3 and D700 such as slower burst speed, self-cleaning sensor, and built-in flash, but the sensors and most of the ergonomics are the same.
