yeah keh is great!

im using an epson 4490, but im not happy with the results i get. out of the hundreds of scans i have made i can say only 2 have come out to my expectations. i dont know if it is because im not doing the process correctly or some other reason but i feel that the color and clarity of the photo is being worsened by this scanner.

that being said i dont know what scanner i should get that would give me better results at a reasonable price.

What software are you using? I have a Canon 8800F and I use VueScan. Here are a couple examples (taken with Yashica D):

By the way, I did to forget to mention that I had to send the body immediately back to KEH to do a CLA because the auxiliary shutter was sticking due to old lubrication. I haven't gotten it back yet (they say they received it on the 12th).

revived an ol' pic i took in the early 90's when offshore racing was active out in the bay. Classic summer morning-cold and damp. The boyz gathering at the stagging area between Alcatraz and Pier 39

im using vuescan as well, but i dont know i just feel that my scans should be better. for example after the negative is scanned and vuescan send the image to photoshop, the image just looks terrible and i feel that i have to edit the image too much to get something that i can live with, also i feel that the images are not as clear as they should be, them seem to be fuzzy and not tack sharp, this isnt just for 1 image, pretty much all of them and im pretty damn sure i am in focus when taking the photo because i use the split image focusing screen.

Could you show me via PM an example of one of your scans that you aren't satisfied with, full resolution perhaps, and tell me briefly what the process was (what DPI, any filters in VueScan you used, white balance settings, output etc)? I'll try to help you get to the bottom of it because your scanner should work pretty well.
