Doesnt mean S8 isnt a better car. I actually prefer it over the Alpina. Just pointing out that ive noticed a trend with his reviews
The review you speak of with the S6 vs M5 vs E63 was actually in the Car and Driver mag not MT. Per my test drives of the Audi and bimmer, I thought the Audi was better in everyway, including acceleration. The bimmer has so much turbo lag and does not pull like expected, the audi feels like it pulls harder at passing speeds. If someone gave me an M5, I would immediately drive it to the dealer for the cash to buy something else that is worthy of that money.

^ Got to ride in an M5 today... wasn't impressed. The acceleration just wasn't there.

This is really surprising to me... Thought the M5s were supposed to be the best 4 door money could buy?

It looks stunning in person, but the acceleration didn't match (or at least what it felt like). It was a numb surge of power.

The speedo moved up pretty fast, but that's it. Virtually no sensation inside the car. Just IMHO.

This just occurred to me from reading through this.

When it comes to 0-60, 0-100, quarter mile and whatever other straight line acceleration test there are, for most cars these are just bragging rights. For most cars lap times, cornering speed and the like determine if one is better than another.

In my opinion though, when only considering big luxury sedans like this, straight line tests should be the ones that decide a winner in the performance department. If you think about it, these cars are meant to provide a comfortable driving and passenger experience coupled with style, not generally be the fastest on race day. So if they are going to go through all the trouble to add in a ridiculous engine, the one that can turn your balls into ovaries the quickest should be getting considerably more recognition.

I stand corrected. There's another review this guy did that seemed a little skewed but I can't remember which vehicles he compared. Maybe it was a F30 328i review.

Either way I do like the S8 better. Aside from looks which I think cannot compare to the BMW, the interior is better, it seems to perform better and it impresses more.
