Audi's R4 supercar coming?
Audi's R4
Baby Supercar coming?
Audi’s £25k mid-engined R4 is destined for production in 2014/15, after chairman Rupert Stadler decided to press ahead with a plan to share platforms with new entry-level Porsche and Volkswagen two-seaters.
Previewed by the E-tron Spyder concept, the new sports car project has been the subject of intensive planning between Audi, Porsche and VW. Recent reports in the German media have even suggested the R4 had been placed on hold, amid concerns it was too close to the established TT.
But Audi officials have confirmed to Autocar that the svelte-looking R4 has received the official green light, and will form a significant part of the company’s future sports car programme.

I can see a baseline model starting at £25K/$37K. If Audi brings it to market they'd have a definite winner…they can surely sell more R4s than R8s. Yes, Good times. :-)
Edit: Biggest question…what power-plant/transmission

I've owned an 09 TT. I have no interest in ever having another car like it. It's pretty, it was rock solid, and it lacked any sort of character or soul.
Put the engine in the middle, and Audi's back on my radar.
It must be said that with what feels like half of the TT interior shared with the R8, it would be almost a copy here. (Not a bad thing, the TT interior is way nicer than it's price suggests.) I'd hope the R4 gets a lot of TT interior carry-over - more than the R8 - and the next R8 gets a little less part-sharing. Maybe unique seats and steering wheel, but no reason to not share buttons, etc.
