I have been a lurker for a while and have driven my fair share of wonderful cars including 07 gallardo coupe, 08 gallardo spyder, 997.2 C4S PDK, 2007 XJR, 2009 XF Supercharged, RS4 ... Growing up in West LA is always fun!

I have had my 2005 Subaru Legacy GT wagon for the past 3 years and while I do love it (I have modified it pretty extensively, catless turbo-back, 18.5psi boost), I am ready to drive a real car! I am a young guy (I will be 20 in December) but was pretty embarrassed last month when I showed up at the MTV Headquarters in Santa Monica, CA for a meeting (regarding a startup I was doing some consulting work for) in my loud, lowered Subaru.

I have been toying with the idea of selling my Subaru (which will be missed) and using 50% of that money for a Down Payment on a 2010 S4; the other 50% would be used for a year or 2 to make monthly payments. Maybe I could find a CPO car to save some money.

What do you guys think?

 

Especially given that you're involved in a start-up why not pickup a used A4 to save a ton of cash, and wait till you're up and running to buy a toy?

The Subaru seems like the right kind of car for a kid your age. MTV loves people like Travis Pastrana, Ken Block, etc who drive/drove Subarus.

Sure, an Audi would be nice, but you're much better off saving your money right now. You've got plenty of time to get something a little more upscale later in life. Or, trade in the Legacy for an STI or maybe an older S4 with the V8? I dunno... Just throwing out some ideas.
