Agreed. The RS4 was a tough sale at $70K+, but the RS5 should be able to be similarly priced (as coupes usually cost more than sedans). The GT-R has been BIG on my radar lately, but I will wait to see what happens with the RS5. Availability of GT3s will be another factor in my car shuffle in 2011....

I know, but I always thought the RS4 was too pricey for what it was. Not that many sold. The new 2011 M3 with about 420HP has a base price of $58K in the US. I doubt the RS5 will out perform it, most likely being heavier. Then it becomes difficult to justify say a $68K starting price.

I can honestly say I much preferred the RS4 to the M3 and C63, even though it had been introduced almost 2 years earlier. I suspect the RS5 will stomp even the C63's performance. Given that plus quattro, I'd be willing to pay $65-70K for it. Another benefit to consider was that the cars were loaded - no options. Option up an M3 and it's very close to $70K (same w/C63).

Chris, I'm right there with you and think that the RS5 will be between $65-low $70K.

As far as the M3 goes, it will not be comparable to this car. The M3 may be faster becuase of the weight difference and the RS5's Quattro drive train loss,-but the RS5 will be a better car in every other category

The price increase comes from DRC suspension, RS Brembo big brakes, full widebody with pop up spoiler(with R8 style fuel door), 7 speed DSG transmission ,Audi Drive Select, and Sport diferential

Also-I heard that the RS5 will have a dual intake setup...

No question the Audi option policy here in the US is awesome, you can add maybe 3-4 things or about $5K. If the RS5 can be taken home for no more than say $75K it will be an instant trade for my A5.

The M3 maybe not be comparable but it will be compared to it all day long in every magazine/forum.

Let's hit the dealer together and get the "we're each buying an RS5" discount... speaking of which, we def. need to link up when the weather unfvcks itself.

Yeah, even in Gerfmany the cars are easily 10K more in addition to being in Euros. A fully spec'ed S5 is maybe $62K in the US, in Germany it is over 70K Euros. 19% VAT is not helping ... LOL
