Truly Sad: Audi kills the RS4
#11
This is sad. They were one of my faves. I feel that we have lived in a golden age of the automobile the past decade. I am sure others will keep making future classics as the hybrid insanity ensues.

The RS4 was a great car, but wayyyyyy overpriced as new. The massive depreciation made it an extremely appealing car on the low-mile, used car market, however, brand new.....typically over $70k fully loaded!!!!! way too much. IMHO, that was the main thing that killed the RS4. There would be a much deeper market for it priced in the 50's.

Just wait. Yes, the Official word we are hearing is no RS4. however, with the RS5 confirmed, there will be nothing stopping them from producing other variants, for example the RS5 Sportback. Oh, and despite what you have heard and may have read, I highly doubt Audi is stupid enough to engineer a new model that does not comply with US DOT/NHTSA standards (which was the claim Re: No S5 Sportback for USA).
I'm sorry, but an RS version of this would be way cooler that the regular A4 sedan bodied model.

The new S4 would be such an awesome platform for an RS version too! What a shame. Seriously, if Audi is going to go through the trouble of making an RS5, why not put the same engine, suspension, etc in the RS4? It's not like the development costs would kill them or anything.
