There were 4 boats. The outerlimits went as far as port Jefferson harbor then called guy up and said "we are hungry and we probaly won't go around. So we are down to 3 boats now. The 52' outerlimits deep v with diesels stopped abruptly in the middle of the sound. 2 of the 4 engines it had quit and they had to turn to shore for it's trailer. Now down to 2 boats. The 27 cig went halfway down the long island sound, then stopped and returned to land. So down to 1 boat.... The little sonic 30'. I have alot of respect for those guys who kept going, even with breaking the power steering and a trim tab in crazy rough water. Joe de fusco, his friend, and also riding with them was Charlie McCarthy.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Michael Aronow and helping him and Charlies wife fix some parts on Charlies "the cigarette" race boat model.
