So y'all have been asking for pics of the 1098 ...

Dan, we'll definitely have to meet up at some point this summer!
Chris, the whole base or S was an interesting conundrum while I was shopping
bottom line
1098/1098S - forged wheels+OEM Ohlins, nothing really top of the line. S is barely more expensive (used market), can go both ways based on individual deal. Which is what happened. Local base 1098.
1198/1198S - forged wheels,OEM Ohlins and DTC. DTC is a nice touch. Would make me favour the S.
1198/1198SP - all of the above + alum tank and quickshifter? *uck yeah, buddy. SP all the way.
I almost got a black 1098S from Boston (gorgeous color!) ... but this one came up locally and is really pristine and well maintained. Couldn't ask for more.
1098R was never a contender ... couldn't afford it, couldn't find one, couldn't make use of all the extras it provides.
I lvoe thinking about upgrading components and whatnot, but for now I'll stick to riding the damn thing as much as I can.

I wanted to, but Ducati NA is VERY protective of its Canadian dealers, and will make it impossible for you to import anything 08+ ... it can still be done but it takes a bit of planning.
And sellers do not help either. "From Canada? We don't sell to Canada, kthxbai".
Aprilia was the exact opposite, I almost got a factory demo RSV4 from Seattle, and the seller was amazingly helpful.
In the end, a great local deal was easier and more or less the same amount of money. Just had to go down Valleyfield to check it out and pick it up. Easy enough.
Prices aren't significantly better once it's all done and said IMO ... but you do get a lot more choice. I mean ... there are currently 2 Duc' superbikes for sale that I know of. A black 1198S and a red 1098R. Oh, and a 1098S @ 21k.
Compare that to the used market in the US ... flooded with used bikes all over the place.

Bike is looking good!!!
A new 1198S is about $55K here in Taiwan and so you can imagine what the prices are for the used market. The dealer won't even sell you parts if he didn't import the bike. So forget about importing one yourself.

I just picked up my wheels from the powdercoater yesterday.
Saw them at the other end of the shop and was "omg omg omg omg omg" like a ****ing 13y/o at a Justin Bieber concert.
I am stoked, they came out even better than expected.

Now I really can't wait to have the tires back on and take the bike out all back together in the sun.
Oh, and for that, it needs to be more than -8 outside like it is today.
