A very sad day for my Daytona 675 !

Yeah they burn oil when you run them hard. Known issue. I did three trackdays in a row, got home, checked the oil--a full quart down!! Now I check it after every td.

edit: and no I didn't see a light either...I don't think these things have one!

its 4 months old !! and never been to the track ... + it does have an oil light, which unfortunately did not work .. anyhow lesson learnt ! i will check my oil after every ride .. when the engine is fixed or replaced

Yeah it's normal for these, run them hard and it burns through a little oil. When I ride street I have zero consumption, but on the track it burns through maybe a third to a half quart per track day.

That sucks. Always check fluids at least every week. New, old, doesn't matter. Locking the engine up in a turn would have had a very different outcome.

Also, whoever strapped that sucker into the truck needs a few lessons on how not to destroy plastics. You want to strap to the front triples and/or fork tubes, and generally the rear tire, swingarm or another hard point. Just wrapping straps around the body work is double plus bad.

Incidentally, you may well have had just enough oil in the engine to deliver enough oil pressure to keep the light off, though it probably got so hot it "soft ceased" the engine.

^ yes that too. The 675 has holes in the triple tree that make it a cinch (heh) to tie down.

Simba .. when i stopped i thanked god i wasn't on a turn !! otherwise yeah i would eat the gravel lol

in regards to the straps .. this happed at 3:00 A.M. and those were the only straps i had .. i didn't want to wake up the guys just for straps .. so we just kept it .. it was "ok" nothing got bent .. !! at the time i didn't even care if anything got bent i was like lets just load it on the truck and get out of here
