Bike Guidence....

Funny you should say this. I just had a crush on this thing today ... I may give in over the summer, we shall see. Trying to resist. Trying very hard. But goddam is it beautiful or what?

Gorgeous. That would be a bike that would be 'in addition to' but not my only single bike.

FWIW I've owned both an '03 600rr and an '01 F4i. Both had very similar street performance and I think the F4i was actually a better day to day ride. The 600rr was loads of fun in the mountains, but not so much on longer trips or in town. Since then the 600rr has gotten USD forks, lighter, better handling in general. I sat on an '09 at the dealership and was shocked how light it felt.
With that said, like all 600cc sportbikes you must wring them out to get the performance. so it depends on what kind of kid you really want. Grunt and torque, or handling and top end screaming power.

No, I know. Remember I had a 99 F4. Great bike. Interesting the F4 you felt was more comfortable then the RR.
I remember sitting on either a 05 or 06 1000RR and was blown away how 'small' it was underneath me. So much power on such tiny bikes. And now bikes are 160++ HP. That was WSBK level HP back in the day; CRAZY!~

Even though the F4i (and the f4 before it) were racing bikes in their time by today's ergonomic standards they'd be considered sport touring riding positions.
The 600rr had a brick for a seat and my ass has no padding either. Bad combination. I got a corbin for it, but that doesn't solve the forward lean, wrist pain, neck cramping sportbike ergos. This is only for longer 1-4 hour rides. On short canyon runs where you're moving around the bike it was fine.

Sooooo....
err...
Went to the local Triumph, Duc Store to look at and size up the new Triumph 675.
They had this gorgeous little gem just sitting there all lonely.
2009. Deal is they offered it to me for $8550 (from $9799) Zero miles.
And then I saw this other little cherry sitting there....
2008 1098S- Brand new. (warranty start date was Oct/2009) and they offered it to me for $16,990.
Both SURE were pretty damn sexy bikes. I must admit, that 675 is one hot little hooker.
What do you guys think of the deals?

I don't keep up with the prices, but I decided a while back not to buy new bikes. There are just so many smokin' deals on used ones that haven't been laid down, tracked or anything.
With that said, both of those bikes are awesome.
