Ducati Multistrada

All the ones mentioned above are great choices. What is your riding experience? Ducatis can be quirky in terms of throttle smoothness. If you are less experienced, a Ducati may not be the best choice, but only you can make that determination. Also, Ducatis are more maintenance intensive than their Japanese counterparts. If you have an aversion towards maintenance being about twice as expensive, then I would choose something else. If not, Ducatis are packed with character. They might not be the fastest or the most comfortable, but when you hear a twin fire with a bit of dry clutch chatter, its hard to beat. I'm a fan of the Monster. Have you looked at those?

I would say I was an average rider 10 years ago, and haven't been on a bike much since I sold my virago then.
Basically would enjoy cruising around in good weather. Not into competitive or high speed riding, but would appreciate some character and excitement on open country roads.

I went by a local Ducati/Triumph dealer saturday and checked out several bikes, but couldn't test ride any (didn't have my gloves or boots).
The Multi's 1100 S seating felt comfortable and more upright than the Hyper, Monster and also the Tiger, which are all more forward leaning.
I'll go back and test ride it later this week. They have 2 new 07s in the showroom and I should be able to get a serious discount on one.
