2012 Z06 laps the 'Ring' in 7:22.68

So I say, LEAVE the interior like it is. This is one car that I very easily have a chance of affording one day.
As for this lap time, AMAZING. I fell in love with the Z06 Carbon when it came out. All the handling upgrades of the ZR1 with the lighter, more raw naturally aspirated engine. Throw in a few upgrades and you are close to 600hp.

I hate the lame ass "fix the interior" quote. What are you people comparing it to? A Ferrari? No shit it is not going to be as good. It costs HALF as much but has ALL the performance. That kind of price difference has to come from somewhere and interior is one place. I have been in Corvettes and there is no complaint from me on the interior.
Chevy could easily up the quality/interior then you have a $200k+ car and what did you accomplish? Nothing. Now you just have another exotic that the average joe can't afford. The beauty of the Corvette is that it provides all the performance of a Ferrari in a package that regular people can afford.
Treat it as that. Don't compare it to cars 2-3 times as expensive and expect it to be as good in every way. That is just stupid.

I am not a Corvette guy, but any enthusiast worth the title has got to respect these cars. Yeah, yeah, the interior, I know, whatever. Like Kevin says, for the price I don't see what the big deal is. Tell me the Ford GT didn't have an interior that was a major dissapointment.
Except for your typical graying fellow who has to have a Corvette convertible to putter around in, and the Bloomington Gold obsessive types, Corvette buyers know exactly what they're buying. These guys take a car that is already fantastic in its own right and makes north of 500 horsepower, and then they send it off to DRM, Katech, Lingenfelter or some such to give it 600 or 700 horsepower, they tear out the seats and put in some racing buckets, and then bolt in a roll bar. Then they take it to a track day and drive the living snot out of it. Sixty percent of the cars I come across at the track these days are Corvettes. Try to catch one. Just try. And there's virtually never a Ferrari or Lamborghini to be found.
So you tell me who really gets it and which buyers are getting their moeny's worth.

Ferrari like performance out of a Vette is somewhat subjective. Before even considering hitting the track, I would love to see the "average joe" launch a Z06 and hit 60 as quickly as Chevy claims. Any dipshit (or average joe if you prefer) can use launch control in a Ferrari or 911. Therefore, at a bare minimum, any dipshit with a Ferrari or Porsche can likely out-launch any dipshit in a Vette.
(there is sarcasm in this post, fyi)
lol x2

Yes Corvettes are niche cars to the extent they are likely not cross shopped however
Statistically this makes sense... How many Vettes are on the road compared to Ferraris/Lambos? Sometimes it's just a numbers game.

For the most parts though, you really can't blame the owners. The cars are worth too much, and they don't want to hurt them. Track use is abusive, and it's a cardinal rule of the car hobby that if a car ever sets tire onto a race track, eventually something will break. (If it were my Ferrari, I might very well feel the same way, as it would likely be my only Ferrari, and I would probably just barely be able to afford it.)
But these Corvette guys these days, they are psycho. They beat on these things all day long and they keep coming back for more. And if they slide it into a wall, they shake their heads and next summer are back with another one. Just like the 911 guys used to be, until 911's got too expensive.
Based on the money these guys spend on modifications, trailers and tow vehicles, I'll bet that a lot of these guys could afford a more exotic car, yet they choose a Corvette for their track weapon. So maybe in some people's view the Corvette's interior isn't up to par. So what? The car is a fantastic tool for the job of going very fast.
