Moving to NoVa...

Don't blame me, I am one of those Californians not represented by our crazy liberal ass representatives. Starting with Pelosi.
And good luck to you HB!
I agree with Chris, seasons is nice on paper, but when go out and look at the gra sky, your jeans is ice cold after standing outside for 30 seconds, and your hands are dry and brittle from the cold, you'll look back to the 65 degrees winter with fondness.
I did 4 years in St Louis, and I had enough of winter for a life time.

I don't use them. If they catch you with it, they'll really hammer you for every little thing they can find. I have noticed that a nice car (i.e. RS4, 911, etc.) earns you less looks from the police. I've been rolling with no front plate for over a year on my C4S and I've had no issues (knock on wood). With my Evo, I got pulled over 2-3 times a year (with no equipment violations).

I've still got Cali plates so I'm not really worried about equip
violations but also can't find what the exact penalties are for radar detectors. Everything says something different

They fine you, confiscate the detector, and ding you for any other thing they can find. I also rolled on CA plates for a long time. The problem is that you have 30 days to register your car in VA (and get a VA license) or you're subject to fines. Finally, don't forget about personal property tax - you get the first $20K relieved, but then it's 3% of the value after that. For example, my 911 was $2600 last year and $2400 this year... OUCH!

It's for cars. Then there's regular property tax (for real estate), etc. Virginia is a commonwealth - that means the wealth is common (shared). FAIL.

I don't know how you NOVA guys do it. makes me thankful for TN's no Income tax, Detector legal, cops do 10 over mentality here. also helps with the food thing - far enough south to get real mexican (plenty of bodegas and authentic mexican places, along with tex-mex, far enough east to still get good thai, sushi, and we have fantastic BBQ. the only thing that is really lacking is quality Italian. I grew up in Chicago and I haven't had a proper pizza in I don't know how long.
