Wow I didn't realize that a bunch of Internet Key Board Warriors on here, had such huge expectations for McLaren to release a time before they were ready to do so. Perhaps they will release it when they are ready, like the recent release of specifications. To the guy calling the People at McLaren Buffoons, whether the P1 did a 6:40 or 7:40 would it make a difference as far as you buying one?

No, I'm not in the running, unfortunately. But it's like 'if you like your health insurance you can keep your health insurance, PERIOD!'

I have posted this elsewhere but its worth repeating.

All this talk about ring times just seems to going around in circles. Many have theorised about what effect it actually has on the people in a position to buy these cars. Well now we have the answer.

This months EVO magazine not only has a huge article about the P1 and its recent Ring adventure's but more interesting has spoken to an owner and future owner.

As some of you may have seen Paul Bailey has taken possession of his orange P1 and his opinon is that the Ring times are irrelevant. In his own words, "The Ring times are only important to people who spend their time on the internet"

The other buyer who writes for EVO on his super car collection agrees, he said "In terms of it affecting a purchase decision, he could not care less" And found the whole internet speculation rather amusing.

Paul Bailey has said that he wants to use his as much as possible and was disappointed that McLaren did not offer winter tyres yet. He sounds like my kind of guy. As a side note he also has a LaFerrari and a 918 on order.

So in conclusion, as amusing as it might be for us internet warriors to speculate on these things, to the guys buying these cars they don’t seem to care. Now a straw pole of only two is a very small sample but to be honest I would expect others in their positions to say the same

"We at the internet" want to know P1's lap time at NS because of this. So much hype and in the end they changed thier minds and don't want to reveal the numbers.

Ferrari did not say anything about NS, so we are fine with it. They only post Fiorano lap times anyway...

Lol at all this..

What happened to those who said it will eat them..
Those including Ron Dennis?
And also those who said Ferrari always wuss out and never post any ring times..what now?

There is no doubt in my mind that if it beat the 918 they would have released the time, there is nothing to loose in that.

If you took yourself time and money to go over there to set a lap time, and you beat it..you obviously make it public.
It can only serve your company in a positive way.

There is no way in hell they can spin this and make me believe that they did it for safety reasons, or whatever else BS they come up with.

When they took part in various lap tests and high speed runs with the F1 and that other thing Mp4....whatever its called.

I call BS on them beating the 918!

PS
@Senna1994

Thats marion cotillard.. i loves her
And the offer still stands

Streetrod is right, ring times for future owners don't mean crap. All 375 will likely sell out. But Ron's stupid boast in Geneva makes McLaren automotive look like fools especially with the GT and MSO division heavily involved in the P1 program. 20 yrs ago gordan Murray let his F1 do all the talking, can't say as much for Ron Dennis. The F1 set all the records, again can't say as much with the P1. again P1=TUNED MP4-12C

Your posts make TS a drag to read. Your one of the most negative people I've come across. Isn't there a Porsche thread you should be JOing too?

Negative? what's there to be positive about the P1. When you talk the talk you better be able to walk the walk. Woking has released numbers, none of it verified looks like they took a page out of Maranellos handbook. At least the 918 has a verified time in the books. Can't say as much for the other two pretenders
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it

Sorry to burst your bubble mate but verified by whom??? All we know is that Porsche posted a time with a 918, but no one knows how close to a customer car that car was. Only when a customer car is tested by an independant source can that time be classed as verified.
Now I am not saying they have been dishonest in any way but only independent verification can be held up as unquestionable
