I find it very interesting that some of you find a way in your minds where this is all ok..
And then goes on to defend the decision.

I would like to learn the logic behind that.. how you make this ok.

Cause surely no one of you can buy that BS about them looking out for others safety?

Enlighten us ¨haters¨ please..

I'm sure they didn't crash on the first lap. They have a time, and didn't want to publish it. If they so desperately wanted to set a good lap time, they could have tried again.

Same with the P1. They have set a lap time and met their initial target. We all know that it's under 7 minutes, so good for them!

True, BUT the CEO RON didn't open his big mouth about ring times like he did in Geneva. 'if you like your health insurance, you can keep your health insurance, PERIOD!'

- I didn't care about the Ring time before they didn't release one and find it brave and comical that they've said 'Nope' to all the demands for one. They're taking a lot of heat from Internet keyboard jockeys over the decision but in the grand scheme of things, just like the Ring time, that doesn't really matter.

The car doesn't get any better just because it sets a fast time at the Ring - it is what it is, and McLaren are satisfied with what they have produced, and so are the nearly 375 depositors who are committed to buy one today - many of whom couldn't give two bits over them publishing a time around the N'Ring.

McLaren have probably created more publicity and sparked more discussion by not releasing a lap time than they would have if they'd released their 918-beating time ( see I can proclaim a biased and unsubstantiated result just the same ) and we all know there is no such thing as bad publicity.

It's funny, the 12C did the top gear track second only to the ariel atom. This was done by the Top Gear driver and there was a ton of criticism because there was supposedly some kind of relationship and bias. So it really doesn't surprise me that they don't want to go on record for any times. It doesn't get you anything. Frankly, there are plenty of companies that post times that are impossible to reproduce. The LFA, the GTR and at least one Ferraris have been put around this track by the manufacturer in a time that we will never see again. Of course we are to believe that it was the skill of the driver or some atmospheric anomaly. There is no way that a special compound was in the tire or race fuel snuck in or a "track day" tune that changed things. What should matter is how it feels and performs when the buyer drives it, not what time a pro-driver achieves. I was fortunate to have my choice of most cars when I bought my 12C. I turned downed the 458 and the Aventador because of how I was able to drive the 12C, not a test pilot. Those are still great cars. I don't need to diminish them to feel better about my choice. For those that need to do this, I would say make a different choice next time. Oh and there are plenty of male enhancement options if it's something else bothering you.

You find it brave and comical? Why not pathetic and cowardly?

Of course it matters, this is a competition, one which they mouthed off in.. if there is no comparison..no tests no nothing..
Someone can just produce some POS and call it the fastest thing on earth..
Competition is what drove the supercar industry to these heights.

It actually does get better if its faster than anything..as the Nring is notoriously hard to master, and a test track for manufacturers to tune their cars, as the industry folks say..if you can make it perform on the Ring..it will perform anywhere.
So yes it would very much be a better car (in terms of performance) if it is the fastest car.

About the ones who bought it, sure who cares..they got their P1s.. and they are happy..
Most cars sold are sold without a ring time to back them up

Well that all publicity is good publicity is just some pos line some fame hungry whore made up..
You can bet your bottom dollar that they would much rather have a time they could show..along with a video..and the whole shebang..and positive press.. over this cluster ****..

believing the contrary would just prove extreme lack of reality.
