Yada yada yada.........it was Ron Dennis himself that made such a huge deal about UNDER 7min ring time. Watch the Geneva tape. Don't kid yourself about McLaren being rookies at the ring! McLarens mistake was under estimating what a monster the ring is. No official time and customer cars to be delivered soon. Pathetic. 918 Spyder is the real game changer, does everything the P1 does but BETTER ;0)

^^This. Marc Basseng also said that the Zonda R can be 15 seconds faster than the record time. Pagani didn't push the car to the limit because it was a customer car, not the factory prototype. The P1, probably, can do a 6:50, but the Zonda can do a 6:35.
A tuned 12C... C'mon! The monococque is different, the crash structures are different, the propulsion system is different... Almost everything is very similar, but different.

I'd say you are mostly wrong - but everyone is entitled to an opinion, to share that opinion and to have people judge them by the opinions they espouse.
McLaren could have started with the P1 and then done a trickle down effect with their other models but needed more volume with their first new product in order to make the establishment of their brand, their factory and their worldwide dealership network more viable.

Are you sure? IMHO i don't think that there is a buyer who wants his supercar to be electric.. I'm not saying that Porsche made a bad move with 918 but you don't make you supercar electric. Supercars must be extreme and consuming fuel. Only fuel!
