I would love to see some pics of the dusty beaut.

First guy to name a price always loses. Just ask.

To make a long story short, he was polite, but he wouldn't even entertain an offer of $2.5M and said it isn't for sale to anyone. He's leaving it to his grandson. Well, cock. Maybe when the time comes his grandson will sell it. I'll wait.

Until then, I'll pull the trigger on an S7 Comp I was looking at.

Whether he'd consider selling or not, $2.5M isn't even in the ballpark for an F1 these days.

Assuming there is a neglected F1 that fits your description (and I don't believe there is one unless you have friends in Brunei or do some shady business in Mexico) it would cost less than $400k to have McLaren do anything necessary to bring it back to full working order, including fresh paint and a new interior to suit your tastes. That's about how much wiggle room you can throw into the price barring other issues like excessive mileage, previous accidents or maybe a fire.

Presently the entry price for F1 ownership has risen to more than $4M, some would say more than $5M depending on what car you are after. If you really offered an owner $2.5M he should have known enough to laugh you off his doorstep.

He wouldn't have even taken $10M if I'd offered it, he said as much, it just isn't for sale. $2.5M was my starter, anyone with business acumen knows you don't start off at your limit. I was prepared to go to ~3.7, maybe a little more, it just wasn't to be.

You failed to address the major point which is that an F1 like the one you are describing does not exist in North America and, outside of the previously mentioned Brunei or Mexico, I think it is safe to say one does not exist like it anywhere in the world.

Please prove me wrong with a photo or a chassis number or any shred of credible evidence.

F1's are highly sought after, as per the posts above, you gonna pay a pretty penny for one.

I wasn't rude at all - I even used the word 'please' which doesn't happen often.

I didn't ask you for the owner's name or address which is frankly very inappropriate to share on a public forum. I asked for proof that the car exists. To my knowledge, which as anyone can attest is fairly extensive with these particular cars (especially in North America) no one with that name has ever owned a McLaren F1.

Anyway, what you've supplied here doesn't matter anyway as it is the name and address of a clothing company:

John H. Daniel
Legendary American Tailors
120 W. Jackson Avenue
Knoxville, TN 37902
John H. Daniel

The company is owned by two brothers - Richard and Benton Bryan - and records show their car collection has included some classic McLaren Can-Am cars at one point (Here's one). I'll make the same statement though - that neither of those names are individuals who I'm aware of as the owner, past or present, of a McLaren F1 - certainly not long enough for it to be sitting in a corner collecting a layer of dust that's 1/8th an inch thick. Frankly with racing in their blood they don't strike me as the type to own a car like that and let it sit at all either.

Again - it shouldn't be too hard to tell us something about the car or prove that it exists but I am guessing you won't be able to do that, sir.
