I tried staring at those photos for half an hour to try to convince myself that this car can be my next upgrade, but it is just nowhere near what i expected of an F1 sucessor in terms of looks and proportions. It looks, like some of you said, hot wheels meets mansory.

I am sure the car is great, but sadly it neither is revolutionary enough to justify dropping the F1 design ques, nor sexy enough imho to go for a design which resembles a nike shoe.

When i look at this car i see a "ronn motors scorpion" meets the mp12 and then a "k1 attack" or some other kit car jumps in and they have a threesome, and mp12 can no longer tell who the father is.. Most likely it is the nike shoe though..

Now dint get me wrong, the car is ok, but somehow i dont feel like going to paris to see it anymore..
Think i will be switching to p 918 for my next upgrade instead..

And on the whole debate about first impressions: i did nit like the new ferrarif12 first time i saw it and still think it s ugly, same for california, panamera. So usually first impressions stick for me.

Bottom line, imho when it comes to buying the ultimate manifestation if automotive engeneering it should feel right all the way, and you dont have to actually convince yourself that you like what you see.

To those thinking they may put their name down for one, then think again, most of the 500 cars are already pre-sold. A number of customers have already seen the car at Pebble Beach or the McLaren technology centre.

McLaren are aiming for a dynamic game changer here, this car is all about the driving experience, apparently no road car will be able to touch this thing around a track.

The side profile pics in today’s Autocar look better than the online pics. In fact it appears the engine sits a lot lower in the car than it does in the MP4 so rear vision should be good. But if this thing is as quick as they say it will be the last thing you are going to be doing is looking in the rear view mirror

A few specs guys taking from Autocar

Sub 3 second 0 - 60

239 MPH top speed

No wipers, new type of acrylic screen does not need them

Has shattered the Silverstone lap time for a road car

Sub 1300kg

960 hp with a 160 of that coming from a flywheel based KERS system

Active roll control and active aero

Chassis and suspension a lot more advanced than the MP4

Shorter than a 911

The aim is to produce the most rewarding road car ever

Price £800K

Recent reports back from Porsche on the 918 seem to indicate that that car is not going to hit the number expected. Harry Metcalf's recent ride along did not sound very positive.

So it will be interesting to see what the Enzo replacement is going to look and go like, I look forward to the twin test

The 12c is faster around the track than the 458.
But no one cares.

You can not produce cars that is so soul less, no matter how freakin fast it is people will just not feel it.

I already know that this will be fast as hell, probably faster than the Huayra, definitely faster than the 918,,and i don't see the new Ferrari doing much to it either (remember enzo).

But it will go up against a Bespoke art work, a German masterpiece and view into future..and a Italian thoroughbred stallion.

Mclarens rabbit in the hat is, weapons grade engineering and kick ass technology.

But, tech is cold and mated with a cold design, this car will never be appreciated for its true qualities.

Which is a damn shame!

I disagree 100%. The reality is that all the Hypercars are limited by the laws of physics and the laws of transportation. The only way to stand out is by using impressive new Technology and to a lesser degree by the styling(which is defined by physics).

Sadly all the new models prove to me that the Zonda is the ultimate Hypercar.

Anybody else find it interesting that it has the SAME EXACT window opening and lines as the F1? In fact it has pretty much the same exact shape except for the rear end.

Ofcourse the tech is important to perform, but a supercar is so much more than a technical tour de force, for that you have racing cars, where no one give a flying f about how they look.

The zonda which you call the ultimate hypercar ( and belive me i agree, it won the last round of hypercars clearly) is everything BUT unemotional and designed solely to perform.

I hate soul less vehicles and more so when they cost 1
million euro.

To me this is a cold product, like the mp4 12c, and if it laps the N ring in 7:00 it wont change that fact.
