McLaren Philadelphia Receives Historic M26 Formula 1 Car
McLaren Philadelphia received the historic M26 Formula 1 racecar on 3/20/2012 for extended display in the showroom.
The M26, which won the British Grand Prix, United States Grand Prix and Japanese Grand Prix in 1977 with charismatic driver James Hunt behind the wheel, replaced the aging M23 model. The car was designed with a smaller frontal area and narrower aluminum monocoque.
McLaren Philadelphia’s M26 is one of the final McLaren Formula 1 cars produced before McLaren introduced carbon fiber. During its competitive lifetime, the M26 was driven by Hunt, Jochen Mass and Patrick Tambay.

This M26 was raced by James Hunt and this chassis won at Watkins Glen. He also won Silverstone and Japan that year and went onto to win the world Championship. Great view from my desk!
