To order or not to order?

To order or not to order?
I went up to my "local" dealer this week, which is McLaren Philadelphia. Convenient from DC, and familiar since I have been buying Porsches from them for years. I met with my sales guy there who sold me my Porsches over the last 7 years.
The new dealership is very nice. Clean and simple, very modern. My expectation was that I was going to spec out an order. How pleasantly surprised I was to see that they had a few cars available. My sales guy told me since they got the franchise later than most other dealers, they still had some available cars. My choice would be ordering to my spec or taking one of their available cars. With an order they told me I can get a car in June/July. They have a White one and a Volcano Red one in stock that I love. They also have a McLaren Orange but that is too much for me. The car that I build online is Silver so now I’m not sure what to do.
I met some of the guys that work there, like Chad Sierer the sales manager, and Matt Gramling the McLaren Tech. Very nice guys, like all the guys at the Porsche store. The owner of the store knows how to pick his people. I think McLaren will give Ferrari a run for their money with their customer service and friendly staff. Quite different from my experiences with the Italian guys.
I had a great car experience over there and recommend them to anyone who is interested in a McLaren or a Porsche. The guy I have been working with is Eric. Good guy who loves cars. Give him a call (484-354-5954)if you need anything. Mention my forum name. I have referred many friends to him. Always worked out.
So now I’m left with the choice of ordering or taking one in stock. Any suggestions?

Tough choice!! The MP4 looks very different depending on the color combination. Silverstone is classy/elegant. White with Red Int is really cool. V.O. and M.O. scream attention. I have been waiting for my specific order for almost a year.... the waiting game does get old. Then again... I wil get exactly what I want which is cool.
BTW, I doubt they have extra cars. Most likely, somebody placed a deposit and backed out. They will hold the original buyer's deposit until they sell the car.
Good Luck either way.

sennafan,
I also order my car from the Philadelphia dealer and an very pleased with their customer service. I was faced with the same dilemma of taking a car in stock or ordering my own. In the end I decided to order my own. I see you have a very nice collection of cars, as do I, and when it comes down to paying MSRP for a car you might as well have it exactly the way you want it. I decided to go with the MO with the black roof. I am currently waiting till June with eager anticipation!
I wish you the best of luck!

I think I would go with Volcano Red - my mate said, when he picked up his car from the showroom, that he almost regretted getting VO after seeing VR.

depends if u're a red kinda person or not. i agree the VR looks really really nice in person. blew the VO away imo. but color by color i like Orange better than the red. VR is a more classic gentleman color, while the VO is a more aggressive, wild, flashy kind of color.
