The GTR is right behind that time.

The ZR1 and Enzo are both ~1.26 cars. I would believe >1.18 on the full non-public setup track.

The times for the first GT-R which were released by Nissan themselves are bs and everyone knows it, no impartial source was even close to 7.30 on the ring. Sportauto followed Nissan's own test drivers when testing the new Nissan GT-R and they managed a time of 7.34 which is 4 seconds quicker than the first GT-R.

The ZR1 did it in 7.38 and is nowhere near the Enzo. On a track like the Ring, downforce is everything. The Enzos body surface is huge compared to a Corvette, though not as huge as a Maserati MC12, in order to push it down harder.

I agree they should have at least offered it but it could be argued that if you wanted a pure driving experience, go for the Noble M600.

I think it is amazing that if the MP4 is anywhere near these reported times, then imagine how much faster the successor to the F1 could be! I genuinely believe that if all goes well for McLaren in the next 5 years, that they will be leading the way in supercars and technology etc.

*Prediction*

New Mclaren will be disappointing not as a car but as a successor to the F1.

The new "Mega Mac" will be way faster than anyone can imagine. The MP4-12C is already faster than the F1. The only thing it isn't better than the F1 is top speed.
McLaren is building a "new car company", so they are focused at the present and the future, not anything that is linked to the past. Forget manual transmission, not only at McLaren, but at all the brands. They are not worried that the F1 as a sucessor, cuz truly that car is irrepeatble due to all the legal requirements in road going cars these days. They cannot touch the F1 or repeat the phillosophy behind it cuz times are others now. Gordon Murray was not in agreement with the "new car company" McLaren idea and was sent away from the project. He will do a sucessor for the F1, maybe with a manual, i don't know, but he already told us that it won't have such a high top speed.

So don't worry cuz the MP4-12C is faster than the F1, so at the ring it will blow everyone away. And the "Mega Mac" will set new standards, as the Veyron did, but with is own and new phillosophy, not trying to replace the F1.

If this is true, it is earth shattering, revolutionary, and thoroughly astonishing. I am still a bit skeptic, because it seems hard that something would surpass the Atom, not by a few milliseconds but by a a FULL second, that amount of time around a track is huge.

The 12C WASN'T designed to be a successor to the F1. McLaren is building a separate car to be the F1 successor. And the 12C will be anything but disappointing, I'm saving up to get one.
