Another reason why its so much quicker may be the driver. The report says that it lapped the TopGear track, but it doesnt say whether it was TopGear who tested the car. If it was a factory testdriver, then he "feels" the car a lot more. If you would give it to the Stig, maybe it wouldnt get around the track as quickly. Manufacturers have been known to test on the TopGear track. I just cant see it being that much quicker than a 458

 

The car is very impressive, but still not as sexy as the 458 italia

 

Reading from the original source, Top Gear didn't have any involvement in the test, McLaren was just using the track. While the time is absolutely amazing, it wasn't driven by the Stig, and I guarantee this car took a WHOLE bunch of practice laps to get this time. So it's not entirley fair to compare this time to the other cars, until the Top Gear television program actually does their lap of the track. I bet on Top Gear though, the time will be astonishing.

Has anyone ever stopped to think that maybe it could be the driver too? Often times I notice folks talking about cars being faster around the track, but that could also be contributed to the driver being a better one too. Just saying....

 

458 is a Very good CAR... One of my favorite Ferrari to drive by far.
MP4-12C is a masterpiece.
Maybe the best car of the last 10 years.. Or more.

Yes, it did the ring already, but its unnoficcial. Rumors say really close to 7m flat. I can only believe that when i see it with my on eyes.

 

5 sec faster than 458 on TG track and 7 min flat on the NS would be LIGHTYEARS ahead of any other sportscar/hypercar out there. 1.17min on TG (458 was 1.19 I think) and NS probably a bit faster than the GT2 RS ... 7.15min, my guess. this is still fast as hell.
