Mark my words. This is NOT an easy market to be in. There is ZERO margin for error in this economy.
Very true.

I bet they will also get the same reaction that Porsche did with they released the Cayenne. If Maserati goes through with this and it's actually decent looking, I think it will take some warming up to.

Anyone can build a car. It's building one that hits the right target market and supporting that product.

Sustained Product Support is MASSIVLY void within the Masterati brand. Not to mention they barely have 1/4 the dealer network that Porsche does.

You buy one, great. So you're away on business and your wife calls you when it breaks down and NO one is around to service it.

I have a feeling that it will be an inflated QP, but I'll hold judgment until I see it.

I'm currently trying to render some special Panameras (Targa, coupe etc.), but I think this would be fun to give a shot at. Maybe it will be based on the Cayenne?

They can either make this really good or they can make it look shit and problematic like older Maserati's.

Ok this came as a surprise since I was not expecting it but I could understand and see them doing good if they offer a great product.

I have no problem with Maserati or even I dare say Aston Martin or Jaguar doing an SUV since they are luxury GT and sedan manufacturers.

When Porsche went all in with the Cayenne I was in shock, even thou I admit it is a magnificent product.

My point is... If you were to put at the same time the release of SUV from let say Porsche, Aston Martin and Maserati. Porsche, since they are a core brand product is the 911 a sports car it would get the most rants, even more than it did at the time.

But at the end of the day Porsche pulled it of, it is a great product, and I see no problem for Maserati and Aston Martin pulling it of as well AS LONG as they produce a quality and competitive product.

+1. Hopefully good. However, a first year all new Maserati could cause problems and we may have to wait for them to sort out the bugs...
